KCP: Treating Tooth Decay Without A Drill
Dr. Golden's office now offers a gentle new "drill-less" technology, called KCP, to treat small cavities and early tooth decay. KCP or Kinetic Cavity Preparation is an alternative to the dental drill. Instead of grinding away tooth structure like a drill, the KCP sprays tooth decay with tiny particles of alpha alumina (a substance used in toothpaste). With the KCP there is little of the heat, vibration and none of the whining sound that accompanies a drill.

Because the KCP is so gentle and precise, most dental procedures can be performed with the KCP without anesthesia. Patients seldom feel discomfort or need pain medication. The precision of the KCP treatment also means 30% less time in the chair and leaves more of the healthy tooth intact.
